KINTEX is the first in the exhibition industry to obtain an international standard certification for "ISO 50001".
KINTEX
(CEO Lee Hwa-young), the largest exhibition hall in Korea, announced on the 9th
that it has obtained ISO 50001, the first international standard certification
for energy management systems (EnMS), in the domestic MICE (Corporate
Conference, Reward Tourism, Convention, and Exhibition) industry.
ISO
50001 certification is a standard standard for energy management systems
established by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), which
establishes global standards such as goods and services, to evaluate the
suitability of companies' management strategies and energy management systems
to improve energy efficiency. Domestic conglomerates such as Samsung Biologics,
SK Hynix, and IBK Industrial Bank of Korea have recently obtained "ISO
50001" certification one after another.
KINTEX's
acquisition of ISO 50001 certification received good reviews for accurate
analysis of energy consumption and systems, sustainability of greenhouse gas
reduction plans, and establishment of energy management manuals to improve
energy efficiency.
KINTEX
proposed with the goal of "reducing energy consumption efficiency per user
by 1%" to operate an eco-friendly exhibition hall. This is expected to
reduce greenhouse gas emissions similar to planting about 26,000 pine trees
annually.
