The domestic online food market is expected
to exceed 50 trillion won in 2021.
According to the National Statistical Office
and the food industry on the 12th, online food market transactions in the first
half of this year amounted to 27.8 trillion won, up 45.4% from the same period
last year. On a semi-annual basis, it is the largest in the second half of last
year (24.1 trillion won). The transaction amount is the sum of the Internet and
mobile shopping transactions of food and beverage, agricultural, livestock, and
fisheries products, and food services (delivery services such as pizza and
chicken).
Food and beverage transactions rose 33.8%
from the first half of last year to 12 trillion won, agricultural, livestock
and fisheries products rose 36.1% to 3.8 trillion won, and food services rose
63.4% to 11.9 trillion won, respectively.
Compared to the total amount of online
shopping transactions in the first half of the year, which is up 23.6% from the
same period last year, the growth rate of the online shopping transactions
increased 23.6 percent from the same period last year.
Online food market transactions rose from
13.2 trillion won in 2017 to 43.3 trillion won last year, following 18.7
trillion won in 2018 and 26.9 trillion won in 2019.
Considering that the transaction amount in
the first half of this year has already reached 27.8 trillion won, the total
transaction amount is expected to easily exceed 50 trillion won this year.
