The Center for Exhibition Industry Research (CEIR) announces that preliminary data collected annually for The CEIR Index report for the third quarter of 2009 reveals that the exhibition industry experienced an overall decline of 13.5 percent when compared to the same quarter of 2008. Year-over-year contraction of the exhibition industry is directly linked to the continuing recession. These third quarter results mark a 2.6 percent decrease in performance compared to the second quarter of 2009. This is the sixth consecutive quarter of negative numbers.
